Postdoctoral/Scientist Positions at Department of Biochemistry in Virginia Tech at Blacksburg
One or two postdoctoral/scientist positions are available at the Department of Biochemistry (Virginia Tech at Blacksburg) to study biochemical functions of insect proteins involved in immune responses and detoxification. Salary is dependant on experience and research potential. Candidates with background in biology,

Invitation to OCEA 2009 Summer Symposia (Summer School) in Beijing
Dr. Le Kang, the current president of the Beijing Institute of Life Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his colleagues in the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Management of Pest Insects and Rodents, the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences would like to organize the OCEA Summer Symposia (or called Summer School) again in Beijing, China. OCEA Student competition awards:
OCEA will continue to have the student competition awards in 2008. The purpose of this program is to encourage young Entomologists to
participate in OCEA activities and to enhance their enthusiasm in
Entomological profession. Three awards will be given during 2008 annual
meeting: first place, second place, and third place. Each receiver will
receive a certificate plus $100, $75, and $50, respectively. To participate in this competition,
please email the following information to Dr. Qisheng Song at
songq@missouri.edu: 1) your
presentation (poster) title, 2) an abstract (less than 500 words), 3)
degree you pursuing, 4) your affiliation, 5) your mailing address, and
6) your email address by 5:00 pm, Tuesday, Nov. 20th, 2008. All
materials will be reviewed by a panel of five judges and the results
will be announced at the OCEA symposium along with the awards. If you

Postdoctoral
Associate is available at Coastal Research & Extension Center,
Mississippi State University.
The individual serving in this position will join an existing
termite research team in a closely collaborative effort to improve
our understanding of how termites effectively digest lignocellulose
and generate energy with the aid of the gut symbiotic
microorganisms. Also, the individual is expected to carry out the
laboratory research work independently in terms of project proposals
generated by the research leader.

Job Opening Alert: USDA-ARS
Postdoctoral Research Associate
A two-year position, recently funded by USDA-ARS, is expected to be
open to US citizen (some non-citizen may be eligible) late this year at
the USDA-ARS Research Center in Stoneville, Mississippi with starting
salary of ~53K plus full USDA employee benefit (http://www.ars.usda.gov/main/site_main.htm?modecode=64020000
). Successful candidate will apply microarray and RNA interference
techniques to study gene regulation of Bt resistance in the sugarcane
borer. Experience in biochemistry and molecular biology is required.
